Further, we believe it is unjust to subject these long-term Michigan residents to the constant threat of deportation from the homes they have built and the communities they consider their own, simply due to their own or their parents' past immigration circumstances. Granting them a pathway to citizenship not only recognizes their contributions to our state but also aligns with our nation's and Michigan's values of fairness and opportunity, and it would provide greater stability and security for countless families and communities across Michigan.
